Since 1995, the Western Cape has been the province that recorded the fastest economic growth, followed by Gauteng and then Kwazulu-Natal. These three provinces also have the three largest provincial economies, and had rising shares in total economic output. Since 2010, these provinces each grew at more than three times the rate of the North West, the slowest growing province. Unfortunately, Statistics South Africa has stopped publishing provincial GDP estimates and it is unclear when publication of such estimates will resume.
